Rebuilding a site without integrating GEO: is it reasonable?

This is no longer a subject you can put off, as a growing number of users settle for the answers AI produces. → Even if GEO is still an experimental discipline, a redesign now has to include the variables models use to decide whether your site deserves to be called on as a source.

Here are four key questions to ask from the design stage, so your site has every chance of becoming, or becoming again, a genuine spokesperson.

1 — What message do you want to make visible? AI does not yet see the UX, the animations, or the graphic effects: it only reads the words, the structures, and the semantic links. In other words, a site can be visually impeccable… and completely silent for AI if it lacks usable text. → Rethinking a site means putting the brand's language back at the center. Sites that favor image over text need to rebalance that relationship (even if the influence of images is very likely to grow with the multimodal approach of Gemini 3, released today).

2 — Which questions do you want to answer? As in a conversation between people, an AI answer depends on the triad of intent / knowledge / context. A site designed without that granularity becomes a neutral corpus, hard to use. → Visibility and authority depend on rethinking personas: bring in the user's real intentions, their familiarity with the subject, and the situation in which the question is asked.

3 — Are you legitimate where you want to be perceived? AI prioritizes proof, contextual signals, and concrete demonstrations. → Where client cases had been stripped back, it becomes necessary to enrich them again with the needs that were stated, the solutions that were delivered, and the impact that was measured, through a precise and empathetic "client first" editorial approach.

4 — How do you make the site's content usable by AI? Beyond the SEO prerequisites (tags, static pages, structured data), AI requires a sturdier editorial coherence. → A redesign has to structure a clear semantic mesh, offer short and reusable blocks of evidence, and treat each page as one piece of a modular corpus — not as a linear story.

👉 If these questions are not built in from the design stage, you will almost certainly have to redo a large part of the work within a year. In the meantime, your visibility can fade, your authority can thin out… and competing sources can occupy, for a long time, the ground you left empty.
